Van Assistant

Join our team as a Van Assistant in Polokwane (Pietersburg) for a temporary position. Assist the driver in delivering parcels with care and precision while providing exceptional customer service.

Job Purpose

To assist the driver in the timely and efficient delivery and collection of parcels, ensuring parcels are handled carefully, accurately sorted, and delivered according to schedule while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the driver with loading and unloading parcels from the delivery van.
• Ensure all parcels are correctly sorted and organized for delivery.
• Help with delivering parcels to customers, obtaining signatures or proof of delivery.
• Handle parcels carefully to avoid damage or loss.
• Support the driver in navigating routes and managing delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections.
• Communicate effectively with the driver, dispatch, and customers.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the van.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Report any issues such as missing parcels, damaged goods, or delivery problems promptly.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent (advantageous but not essential)
• Previous experience in courier, delivery, or warehousing (preferred)
• Ability to lift and carry parcels weighing up to 25 kg safely
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings or weekends if required
