Job summary

An environmental consultancy seeks a Wetland/Soil Scientist to perform specialist assessments and GIS related analysis. Candidates should have a 3-year B.Sc., relevant experience, and be registered as a Professional Natural Scientist. Strong communication skills and report writing ability are essential. The position is based in Midrand, Gauteng with a closing date for applications on 08 August 2025.

Qualifications

  • 3 years’ relevant post qualification experience.
  • Ability to write detailed, high-quality reports.
  • Experience with Water Use License applications is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialist assessments in Wetland, Soil, Aquatic and Agricultural potential.
  • Perform GIS related analysis and map production.

Qualifications
  • 3-year B.Sc. in natural or environment sciences with Honours (4 years’ study completed) or 4-year B.Sc. in Agriculture.
  • Compulsory registration with SACNASP as a Professional Natural Scientist or in process of registering.
  • 3 years’ relevant post qualification experience.
  • Strong proficiency in writing detailed and high-quality reports, with ability to demonstrate skills upon request.
  • Proficiency in GIS processes and the use of ArcMap related software.
  • Experience with Water Use License (WUL) applications will be advantageous.
  • Mature, confident and effective communication skills when engaging with other consultants in the Environmental, Agricultural and Engineering fields.
  • Have the ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
