Job summary

A leading international coatings company seeks a Sales Representative to promote and sell products in the Powder business. Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to promote and sell a full range of products to new and existing customers within the Powder business of AkzoNobel South Africa. To optimize opportunities to achieve sales and customer services objectives aligned with the financial objectives of the Sales and Marketing Unit.

Key Accountabilities
  • Promote a full range of services and products to existing and potential customers
  • Providing forecasts for customers and products. Preparing and presenting sales plans / actions.
  • Accurate 6 month pipeline.
  • Reporting and meeting of deadlines.
  • Actively grow the Powder business by the required volumes and value in accordance with the annual sales budget.
  • Position our product and service offerings compared to industry in order to retain and grow existing / potential client base.
  • Acquire new business in accordance to sales budget expectations. Act on leads generated and sent to you via leads systems such as CRM in order to achieve sales targets.
  • Increase new business opportunities at existing customers and do cold calls to find new customers.
  • Manage CM margins and sales volumes as set out by KPI / Objectives.
  • Provide and ensure customers receive the necessary training and technical back-up.
  • Train new sales staff on all aspects of sales reporting forecasting and technical aspects of the position.
  • Negotiate within the boundaries of the companys prevailing commercial and pricing policies.
  • Forecasting sales / product volumes. Supply data for input into relevant reports and tracking tools relating to daily activity / productivity pending sales.
  • Organize and attend all company marketing and business functions when required to do so.
  • Should be available to travel for customer visits and other business requirements.
  • Attend and provide input and or feedback into sales strategy meetings by providing ideas feedback in terms of how to achieve individual and team target
  • Build long term relationships with all customers. Provide feedback and document market intelligence. Act as a Brand ambassador by displaying appropriate behaviour as per AN values and Company Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance to ISO 9001 / 14001 quality / environmental management systems & corporate Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) management system
Experience & Qualifications
  • Grade 12 combined with a tertiary qualification relevant to this role.
  • At least between three to five years of sales experience in an industrial technical chemical or coatings end user environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of MS Office Packages and the ability to learn and apply CRM and other related tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strategic approach to sales with the ability to develop new business and to build relationships with clients.
  • Adaptability and demonstrated continuous learning.
