Job summary

A leading beverage company in Brakpan is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to optimise and modify process control systems. The ideal candidate will maintain, calibrate, and repair plant equipment, ensuring safety and reliability in a brewing environment. Proven experience in instrumentation maintenance and relevant qualifications are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in instrumentation equipment maintenance.
  • PLC experience will be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in routine electrical and instrumentation maintenance in brewing and packaging plant environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant equipment and associated devices safely and efficiently.
  • Continuously improve and optimise plant processes and systems.
  • Calibrate and verify the accuracy of instruments and control devices.

Key Purpose

The role is to optimise and modify process control systems, support their installation, and ensure their ongoing reliability. The role also involves maintaining, calibrating, and repairing equipment, as well as optimising brewing plant systems and associated devices to maximise plant availability and ensure consistent product quality.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain, Calibrate, Repair, and Optimise Plant Equipment and Associated Devices
  • Identify and locate plant equipment, spare parts, and relevant documentation or systems.
  • Plan and prepare work tasks effectively.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on plant and process equipment.
  • Continuously improve and optimise plant processes, equipment, and systems.
  • Operate plant and process equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Calibrate and verify the accuracy of instruments and control devices.
  • Work Collaboratively in Teams
  • Communicate clearly and effectively within the team.
  • Contribute to both individual and team development initiatives.
  • Apply VPO Principles and Practices
  • Ensure all work is performed in alignment with VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) principles and practices.

Minimum Requirements
  • Relevant N6 qualification – Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or equivalent, and Trade Test in Instrumentation.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in instrumentation equipment maintenance; PLC experience will be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in routine electrical and instrumentation maintenance within similar brewing, engineering & facilities (E&F), and packaging plant environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of brewing and E&F plant equipment, systems, and processes.
