Overview
The Engineer will be responsible for designing and all duties related to the manufacturing of the Upholstery Products. The engineer will also need to create and nest various patterns to be cut on the CNC. The materials can include but are not limited to Vinyl, Fiber Glas, and Foam. The Engineer will also be responsible for the efficiency of the CNC Cutter.
Key Responsibilities
- Nesting equipment to improve the design or manufacturing process.
- Upholstery designing, Pattern Design, Create Nesting and new drawing creation and all CAD and Office related duties.
- Creating, Flattening and Nesting of various materials used in production.
- Responsible for the Efficiency of the Vinal Cutter CNC.
- Engineering Change Request (ECR) process and detailing work on both new products and projects.
- Plan prepare and implement a new project scope, deliverables, timeline, and project risk and calculate a project cost on all relevant projects.
- Prepare a project schedule and assign resources in conjunction with departmental heads.
- Identify project risks and implement measures to mitigate these risks.
- Monitor progress against scheduled tasks and update the schedule.
- Ensure that all project deliverables and milestones are met according to the project phase.
- Optimize productivity (man and material) by analyzing current processes and methods and identifying improvement projects on the shop floor.
- Manage improvement projects and report accordingly on improvements made – cost reduction, hours reduced, etc.
- Support production with the implementation of improvement projects as needed.
- Plan projects, define scope and resources needed, define activities and due dates, develop cost estimates and budget, implement solutions and follow up to ensure successful completion.
- Responsible for creating and managing various technical or supporting documents to be used in the manufacturing and quality control processes. These documents include (but are not limited to) manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, quality control drawings, check lists, technical bulletins, milestone tracers, standard operating procedures, joinery change request, and bills of materials.
- Communicating the relevant information regarding the rolling out of new designs to the various departments (including feedback to the Project Manager) to ensure successful implementation.
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum: Diploma in Engineering Mechanical or Similar and Exposure within Upholstery Manufacturing environment.
- Ideal: BTech or related degree.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years exposure within a Manufacturing environment.
- Advantage: Experience with nesting software and Upholstery
