Job description
Minimum Qualifications
  • NQF 6 (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) in Geology / Survey / Mining Engineering / Mine Manager Certificate of Competency / Advanced Mineral Resource Management Certificate with Intro to MEng.
Requirements
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Minimum 10 years relevant Planning or MRM experience.
Advantageous Qualifications
  • NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma) in MRM or Mining Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
  • People Management Recruitment:
  • Design the specific Operations’ discipline structure to support the achievement of the organisational mandate.
  • Review and approve labour plans around operational targets. Performance Management:
  • Provide leadership and inspire team members towards high performance.
  • Manage performance and development of reporting staff.
  • Set the specific Operations’ discipline performance targets and criteria that align with organisational goals for the team.
  • Employee Relations:
  • Drive the Organisational Culture and Climate within the Business Unit to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and employee safety.
  • Training and Development:
  • Drive a culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement within the specific Operation to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and safety.
  • Mentor individuals to enhance the individual`s knowledge, skills, values and attitude.
  • Create opportunities for development through participation and involvement in new business or technology enhancement projects for team members.
  • Provide coaching to team members on an ongoing basis.
  • Transformation & Sustainability:
  • Drive a culture of Transformation within the specific Operation to ensure organisational sustainability.

  • Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment.
  • Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.

  • Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department.

  • SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative.
  • US PGM Operations: Enhance together for ICCM principles.
  • Mine Planning
  • Direct and monitor all activities in the planning cycle
  • Translate rolling plan into execution schedule in collaboration with execution team
  • Sanction all key decisions with regards to the integrated operations schedule
  • Conduct analysis on all critical information related to the integrated operations schedule and the execution environment and report accordingly
  • Conduct production and services reconciliation reporting
  • Set up an environment to control quality of services work
  • Conduct production forecasting, mine scheduling optimization and support
  • Enforce the escalation process (up lateral or down)
  • Maintain operation of the work execution notes, referring to system
  • Monitor system health and exception reporting
  • Perform ad hoc informative underground visits to inspect conditions for future work etc.
  • Monitor effectiveness of management routines
  • Ensure and maintain a healthy environment, safe operations and practices
