Responsibilities
The Underwriting Manager will be reporting to the General Manager of the business.
- Oversight and Management: Supervise all underwriting procedures and manage the underwriting department, including performance reviews and salary adjustments.
- Renewals and Reinsurance: Ensure timely renewals and manage reinsurance negotiations and limits.
- Document Management: Maintain up-to-date and accessible document management systems.
- Data and Performance Analysis: Provide key data and ratio analysis, evaluate portfolio performance, and ensure compliance with company strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Resource Management: Optimise time and processes to meet client expectations and comply with risk standards.
- Client and Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain relationships, manage client insurance portfolios, and provide accurate reporting.
- Process Improvement: Identify and enhance processes, ensure adherence to service standards, and support sales and service objectives.
- Training and Development: Identify training needs, ensure personal development plans are completed, and share knowledge with the team.
- Portfolio Management: Focus on portfolio growth and revenue increase, improve productivity, and reduce errors.

Minimum Requirements
- BCom Degree (Insurance / Risk Management / Other)
- RE5 Certificate, FAIS Credits (Non-negotiable)
- Minimum 8 years in underwriting, with 5 years at management level, preferably with Municipalities & SOEs accounts.
