Job summary

Glencore in South Africa is seeking an experienced underground blasting supervisor based in Steelpoort, Limpopo. You will oversee safe blasting, plan and coordinate mining activities, and ensure adherence to geological plans and production targets.

The role requires Grade 12, blasting certificate for scheduled mines, Competent A Certificate, and at least three years in underground mining, with Board and Pillar/Trackless experience, and willingness to work shifts.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is the minimum education requirement.
• Blasting certificate for scheduled mines.
• Competent A Certificate.
• Three or more years of experience in underground mining.
• Board and Pillar, Trackless Mining experience.
• Medically fit for underground work.
• Ability to work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Safe blasting of underground excavations and development of waste and reef footprint.
• Conduct daily entry examinations, risk assessments, marking off support.
• Identify the reef band and mark the face as per geological reports, and charge up the face.
• Plan and coordinate mine activities in line with targets and objectives and stick to a workable productive mining cycle.
• Personal Management and Crew control – Supervision of team and management of performance.
• Communication of mining plans and allocation of responsibilities to the crew.
