Our client in the power generation industry is looking for a skilled and experienced Turner Machinist. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and precise machining of components by performing turning, facing, threading, drilling, and boring operations on conventional lathes and milling machines. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining machining accuracy, equipment performance, and production quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional lathes and milling machines to perform turning, facing, threading, drilling, and boring operations.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Measure and inspect finished products to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain production efficiency and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete all job documentation.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement and skills development initiatives.
Requirements
- Relevant technical qualification Red Seal Trade certificate in Fitting & Turning or Turning and Machining
- Minimum 3 years' proven experience as a Turner or Machinist in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Skilled in the use of manual lathe machines.
- Knowledge of materials, cutting tools, and machining techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
