Transport Operations Controller

As a Transport Operations Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation services. You will work closely within our operations team to coordinate and oversee daily transportation activities, including scheduling, routing, and monitoring of vehicles and drivers.

Key Performance Areas

• Assisting in the planning and execution of transportation schedules to meet customer demands.
• Act as a frontline liaison with clients, proactively addressing challenges and queries to minimize complaints.
• Monitoring vehicle routes and schedules to ensure on-time delivery and optimize efficiency.
• Communicating with drivers to provide instructions, updates, and support throughout their routes.
• Maximizing vehicle utilization through effective load, route, fuel, and overnight location planning.
• Tracking and recording transportation data, including fuel usage, mileage, and delivery times.
• Resolving any issues or disruptions that may arise during transportation operations.
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of transportation activities.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and expenses.
• Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, maintenance, and repairs.
• Assist with the development and implementation of cost-saving initiatives related to fleet management.
• Liaise with drivers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Manage drivers’ PDP and licenses.
• Handle insurance claims.
• Complete daily debrief of POD’s and associated paperwork.

Requirements

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Drivers license.
• 3-5 years of experience within the long-distance transport industry.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in logistics is advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, planning, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet management software.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Previous experience on Datatim- advantageous.
• Must be able to work long and after hours if needed.
