The Trainee Payroll Administrator will support the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role involves processing full-cycle payrolls, administering statutory allowances, ensuring correct payments, maintaining auto-enrolment responsibilities, and fostering positive client relationships. The position is ideal for someone eager to build a long-term career in payroll within a progressive, growing accountancy practice.
Process and administer weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finish.
Prepare and submit all statutory filings, including FPS, EPS, P45s, Starter Declarations, End-of-Year Declarations, and P60s.
Manage the accurate payment of salaries and statutory allowances across a range of clients.
Administer auto enrolment responsibilities in line with regulatory requirements.
Complete all month-end and year-end payroll processes to required standards.
Act as a point of contact for client queries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Maintain strong, positive relationships with client contacts to support smooth payroll operations.
Ensure all payroll reporting meets legislative requirements, HMRC guidance, and deadlines.
Produce management reports as required.
Assist with any ad hoc assignments or projects as directed by the Payroll Services Manager.
Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (intermediate level).
Ability to learn new systems and software quickly and accurately.
Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
Strong sense of accountability, demonstrating ownership of tasks and outcomes.
