Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Trainee Manager for Nelspruit's store.

Responsibilities
  • Learn overall store operations under direction and supervision of a store manager.
  • Perform a wide range of retail operational duties under general guidance and support of an experienced individual.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure processing of items including goods in transit, cycle counts, physical stock to system matches, stock takes, shrinkage reduction, and maintaining overall stock levels; ensure efficient stock flow to the sales floor; assist and support in shrinkage management and stock ordering as required.
  • Sales Floor & Receiving: Plan, implement, and maintain promotional stock displays; adhere to labeling, pricing and layout standards; assist with goods receiving; ensure transaction integrity for incoming goods receipts and returns; reconcile daily stock movement.
  • Sales Targets: Assist in achieving store sales targets; partner with department heads to meet targets; support promotions execution; coordinate with other stores to share knowledge and plan activities; monitor market trends and customer initiatives; assist in determining profit and sales objectives and propose strategies; develop ideas to increase market share; contribute to regional retail strategies to raise customer base and store profitability.
  • Point of Sale Operations and Finance: Assist with cash-ups, POS scheduling, expense and stock adjustments, and financial statement interpretation; ensure budget adherence; support transaction integrity and branch transaction accuracy; improve cashier service levels and productivity; control overtime and casual spend; support audits and reporting between store and departments.
  • Customer Service: Address customer complaints promptly; ensure customer request system is operational; promote loyalty signups and accurate points processing; provide customer feedback handling.
  • HR Process Support: Assist with leave management, scheduling, staff files; support HR submissions and documentation; manage Kronos workforce data; deliver HR policies and systems; coordinate training and capture feedback.
  • Trainee Programme Adherence: Participate in meetings and learning opportunities; complete assigned on-the-job tasks; finish learning programs and assessments; maintain Portfolio of Evidence with regional sign-off.
Qualifications
  • Essential: Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in store retail management disciplines (stock management, cash, reporting, expense control, customer service)
  • Computer literacy – MS Office
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
  • Advantageous: Diploma in Financial / Admin or a relevant 3-year Diploma

  • Sound knowledge of retail store management disciplines with retail admin experience
