A leading aviation service provider in Cape Town is seeking a Trainee Engineering Technician. The successful applicant will undergo training to achieve the required competencies. Responsibilities include maintenance of systems and equipment, understanding technical reports, and ensuring compliance with aviation standards. Candidates should possess a National Diploma in Electronic Engineering and a willingness to learn in a dynamic environment.
Applications are invited for the position of Trainee Engineering Technician (Peromnes 13) based at ATNS Cape Town (FACT).
The successful applicant will be reporting to the Supervisor: Technical Support FACT.
To receive theoretical and practical training to enable competency as an Engineering Technician.
Learn and become proficient in specific maintenance activities on equipment and systems as per the relevant Logistic Support Plan, Station Instructions and equipment manufacturer recommendations.
Learn and become proficient with respect to maintenance to buildings at the sites, the site itself such as roads, grass cutting, fencing, antenna masts, terrestrial communications and power from point of supply is maintained to ATNS standards.
Ensure that the relevant equipment competences are attained as per station requirements and the appropriate Technical Skills Matrix. Gain an understanding of Service Level Agreements within the area of responsibility.
Attain competency on relevant equipment as per station requirements and the appropriate Technical skills Matrix grading.
Learn how to perform (O & I) level corrective fault diagnosis down to module Line Replacement Unit (LRU) level.
Learn how to perform "I" level corrective maintenance through module (LRU) replacement.
Learn how to perform operator (O) level restoration of service by reconfiguration and / or changeover by means of supervisor positions and remote control, monitoring and maintenance systems (RCMMS).
Attain competency on performance analysis using relevant performance tools and other Computer-Based Maintenance Management Systems.
Attain competency on how to draft useful, informative and concise technical reports on systems and equipment as requested and proactively when the need arises. Gain an understanding of ATNS ISO policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recommendations.
Become proficient in the "O" level support of all Communications, Navigations and Surveillance systems and Equipment at your Centre.
Knowledge of all other applicable ATNS Centre and Shift requirements.
Knowledge of all other Flight Information Region environments.
Efficiency Electronic Equipment Assembly techniques
Dexterity in the handling of various components
Logical approach to fault finding
Ability to read and draw electronic circuit diagrams
Circuit board assembly and component replacement
Use of electronic test equipment
To be physically agile
Problem Solving
Report Writing
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Use of 4x4 Vehicle
S4 National Diploma in Light Current Electronic Engineering or equivalent
Attended and successfully completed the prescribed Technical Learnership at the ATNS Aviation Training Academy
Preferably ACSA AVOP certified
A valid code 8 driver's license
