Tractor Technician position available in Kimberley.
The main responsibility of this position is to maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles by performing mechanical and electronic diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform electronic and mechanical diagnostic tests on tractors to identify faults and technical issues.
- Repair or replace faulty parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and hydraulic components.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil and filter changes, lubrication, and belt adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs, maintenance needs, and equipment condition.
- Provide recommendations on preventative maintenance schedules and safe operating procedures.
- Offer guidance on identifying and responding to potential equipment problems.
- Assist with workshop duties including inventory management, organisation, and equipment cleaning.
- Support and mentor junior technicians when required.
- Attend relevant training sessions to stay up to date with the latest agricultural technologies and industry trends.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as directed.
Requirements:
Qualification and Experience:
- Completed Trade Test Certificate (Tractor, Motor, or Diesel) – essential.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience with tractors or agricultural machinery.
- Proven expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
