Job summary

A leading mining company in South Africa is seeking a Trackless Mobile Machinery Engineering Overseer. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to engineering standards, manage resources, and control human resources for optimal machine performance. Applicants should have over 6 years of mining experience, including 4 years in a Trackless Mobile Machinery environment, along with relevant certifications. This is a full-time position offering a dynamic work environment with strong adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years’ experience in mining, with minimum 4 years in a TMM environment.
• At least 3 years’ experience as a TMM Engineering Foreman.
• Computer literate and valid drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and oversee labour and machinery.
• Allocate resources in consultation with relevant Section Heads.
• Manage Underground mechanical and electrical services/maintenance.

Skills

Good written and verbal communication in English

Sound knowledge of Hydraulic circuits

Knowledge of Mining water and pumping infrastructure/services

Education

Grade 12/N3

Recognised Diesel Mechanic Trade Test certificate

Trackless Mobile Machinery Engineering Overseer (Mining)

Our client is one of the world’s leading suppliers of rough diamonds and one of the largest independent diamond groups by a resource.

Job Description: The successful candidate will be required to ensure adherence to engineering standards, oversee labour and machinery in the section and manage this area to obtain optimum machine and equipment performance and engineering availability as well as achieve production targets.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor adherence to engineering standards, taking corrective action where necessary
• Allocate resources in consultation with relevant Section Heads
• Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and systems
• Implement action plans to achieve the mining strategy and business plans
• Set and prepare financial budget for the section
• Keep abreast of market trends and new technology
• Ensure the effective management and control of human resources for optimal utilization
• Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Management of Underground mechanical and electrical services/maintenance
• Management of Underground trackless maintenance

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12/N3
• Recognised Diesel Mechanic Trade Test certificate
• At least 6 years’ experience in mining of which a minimum 4 years’ experience in a Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) environment
• At least 3 years’ experience as a Trackless Mobile Machinery Engineering Foreman
• Computer literate
• Valid drivers’ license
• Mechanical and Electrical experience will be an advantage

Other Skills/Competencies

• Good written and verbal communication in English
• Sound knowledge of Hydraulic circuits, TMM Safety Systems and Electrical Infrastructure (standards and maintenance)
• Sound knowledge and experience in Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Centred Maintenance principles
• Sound knowledge of HR and ER/IR management systems
• Knowledge of Mining water and pumping infrastructure/services
