FACT is seeking a Tower Engineer to oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of tower-mounted network equipment, ensuring reliable service across our systems.

You will perform inspections, configure gear (Mikrotik and Ubiquiti), work at heights with safety training, and collaborate with technical teams to optimise network performance while adhering to safety standards.

Formación

• Experience in telecommunications or construction.
• Foundational understanding of networking principles, protocols, and configurations (IP addressing, routing, troubleshooting).
• Fall protection and rescue training – certification preferred.
• CPR/First aid certifications are a plus.

Tower Engineer Job Description

As the Tower Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment and infrastructure to ensure the smooth functioning of all network equipment.

Duties:

1. Ensure equipment maintenance by conducting inspections and repairs on telecommunication equipment installed on towers.
2. Set up and configure network equipment and antennas to ensure optimal network performance.
3. Identify and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain network reliability.
4. Ensure that all work adheres to safety regulations.
5. Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams to optimise network performance, resolve complex issues, and implement upgrades or expansions.

Tower Engineer Requirements and Qualifications:

1. Experience in telecommunications or construction.
2. Proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Mikrotik and Ubiquiti equipment.
3. Fall protection and rescue training - Certification demonstrating the ability to safely climb and work at heights.
4. A foundational understanding of networking principles, protocols, and configurations, which may include knowledge of IP addressing, routing, and network troubleshooting.
5. CPR and first aid certifications a plus.
6. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
7. Comfortable working at heights in various weather conditions.
