Job summary

Staff Solutions Recruitment is seeking a tooling and manufacturing professional in the Eastern Cape to manage tool definitions, mold maintenance, and process improvements. You will liaise with product design and quality teams to ensure tooling integrity and compliance with group standards.

The role requires a degree or trade qualification in tooling, injection moulding experience, and 5+ years in manufacturing, preferably automotive, with strong project management and English fluency.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering or trade test in Tool & Die/Millwright.
  • At least 5 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Injection moulding experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in Project Management Process.
  • Knowledge of Production System Efficiency basics.
  • Results oriented with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • International mindset and fluent in the English language.
  • Valid drivers license and own transport.

Responsibilities

  • Gather input from the product design team.
  • Manage process definition and release of tool definitions in PDM system.
  • Prepare and maintain the integrity of tool documentation for final tool acceptance.
  • Propose and implement product and process improvements to fulfil geometric requirements.
  • Act as the technical correspondent for the tool supplier (tooling offers and technical design analysis)
  • Make tools available for plants so that product and process characteristics are under control.
  • Apply Group standards as well as other internal and industrial standards.
  • Supervise tool room staff.
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor work progress, and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of injection molds to minimize production downtime.
  • Inspect molds for wear, damages, and dimensional accuracy before and after use.
  • Work closely with quality and production teams to resolve mold-related quality issues.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols in the tool room and during mold handling.
  • Prepare reports on tool room activities, mold performance, downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Keep management informed of critical issues and improvement opportunities.
