Job summary

Stethoscope SA in South Africa is seeking a registered theatre nurse dedicated to delivering safe, evidence-based care in a busy theatre. You will assess, plan, execute and supervise perioperative care for patients according to hospital standards.

You will assist surgeons, maintain aseptic technique, manage supplies, and participate in Clinical Governance and patient safety initiatives. The role requires SANC registration, Enrolled Nurse qualification, Grade 12, and at least 5 years in theatre

Qualifications

• Must be a registered nurse with theatre experience.
• Current SANC registration and active practicing license.
• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF4.
• Enrolled Nurse qualification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in theatre as a registered nurse, scrub nursing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to holistic care of patients.
• Maintain aseptic technique when handling packs and consumables.
• Assist in cost-effective, safe use of supplies and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care.
• Promote good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors.
• Ensure evidence-based nursing care and appropriate care plans.
• Coordinate with health care practitioners regarding changes in health status.
• Adhere to documentation policies.
• Manage stock and equipment control, charging and credits.
• Support operating rooms and assist surgeons during procedures.
• Monitor patients during surgery and post-operative recovery.
