Overview

We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Bookkeeper to provide maternity cover on a 6-month temporary contract.

The successful candidate will support the finance department by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with month-end reporting.

This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including capturing and processing supplier invoices, payments, and journals.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain the cashbook on a daily basis.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Support the preparation of VAT returns and assist with audit readiness.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve queries related to invoices, payments, and account discrepancies.
  • Maintain proper filing and recordkeeping in compliance with company and audit requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.
Requirements
  • Qualification: Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably within an FMCG, manufacturing, or export environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Sage, Pastel, or similar).
  • Strong MS Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge: Sound understanding of VAT, reconciliations, and accounting procedures.
  • Attributes: Reliable, accurate, and deadline driven.
  • Able to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
