JOB DESCRIPTION

The Real Steel department currently has a vacancy for a motivated, professional and organized Counter Sales Clerk to join their team. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR 3-6 MONTHS. The position requires an efficient individual who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet strict deadlines.

  • Taking telephonic orders, processing orders and following through to the delivery stage
  • Contacting customers for orders and specials
  • Checking market for pricing structures
  • Assisting customers in the shop and at the sales counter
  • Data capture and general admin duties
  • Handling of cash
  • Assisting with quarterly stock takes
  • Assisting in other areas should the need arise
  • All administrative duties related to inventory control
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Counter-sales experience in hardware/ retail environment
  • Computer proficiency; packages required: MS Word, Excel
  • Ability to process data quickly and accurately
  • Able to work neatly and clearly when capturing data and filing electronically
  • Able to liaise professionally with customers, suppliers & colleagues
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent telephone mannerKnowledge of wide variety of steel, hardware and security products
