A leading recruitment agency seeks a technical support specialist for the veterinary sector in Pretoria. Responsibilities include providing technical support, developing training materials, and coordinating marketing efforts. Candidates must have a BVSc degree, be registered with the SAVC, and possess strong communication skills in English and Afrikaans. Prior experience in Animal Health is preferred, along with proficiency in MS Office. This role requires travel and good interpersonal relations.
JOB DESCRIPTION – Not limited but aligned to :
Technical support
Supply ongoing in-field technical support to internal and external clients of Business Management and Technical and Training Services.
Handle product complaints.
Be responsible for or involved in marketing and regulatory trials.
Research, prepare, and deliver presentations at farmer’s days, veterinary training days, or other events.
Develop training material for Training Services.
Provide technical support to the Commercial and Regulatory units regarding product evaluation.
Liaison with stakeholders
Liaison with key players in the animal industry.
Marketing material
Provide technical and veterinary support in the development and maintenance of marketing material produced by the marketing department for both new and in-line products.
Customer Focus
Host at least 6 farmer days per quarter.
Coordinate coop training with the sales teams.
Visit key clients with or without relevant sales representatives or area managers.
Speak at veterinary meetings, congresses, etc.
Marketing & strategic planning
Develop strategic activities with the Marketing team.
Plan marketing and branding objectives by product group and develop marketing plans and strategies in collaboration with the sales and procurement divisions. Support the planning, implementation, and management of marketing, advertising, and promotional activities and campaigns.
Other requirements
Self-study relevant literature to become an expert in the field.
Maintain awareness of current affairs in the veterinary and animal industry through self-study, conferences, meetings, and contacts with key industry players.
Develop and maintain good relationships with personnel.
Qualifications
BVSc or equivalent degree.
Registered and in good standing with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).
1–5 years of previous experience in Animal Health.
Knowledge of the veterinary industry in LIVESTOCK is advantageous. Experience with veterinary products and research is beneficial. Ability to plan and execute tasks. Good communication skills.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and other MS Office packages. Proactive, self-initiating, and self-directed.
Strong verbal, reading, and writing skills in English and Afrikaans are essential; additional languages are a plus. Own transport and willingness to travel are required.
