The role involves marketing and selling industrial valve products to the mining and heavy industry sectors while ensuring customer satisfaction through robust support and solutions. Technical Sales Representative (Mining, Industrial) – Johannesburg Based.
Purpose of the function : to market and sell industrial valve products and solutions to mining and other heavy industry sectors within Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo region.
The role requires deep technical understanding of industrial valve applications, compliance with industry standards, and the ability to deliver tailored solutions that optimally enhance operational efficiency and safety.
The representative is responsible for driving sales growth, maintaining key industrial client relationships, providing technical training and supporting after-sales service to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Grade 12 (Matric)
Diploma in Business Management
Engineering degree (Preferably Mechanical) – advantageous
Minimum 5-10 years sales experience within the valve industry, preferably in the industrial sector
Strong technical background in selling complex technical products
Sound knowledge of sales leadership principles and techniques
Comprehensive valve product knowledge
In-depth understanding of the South African industrial market and competitors
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts
Track record of consistently achieving sales, gross profit (GP) and EBIT targets
Excellent communication and negotiating skills across all organizational levels
Solid understanding of customer service principles and best practices
Strong numerical and organisational skills
Demonstrated leadership qualities and people management skills
Effective problem solver and solutions provider
Proficient in CRM systems, Navision and Microsoft applications
Experience working in a corporate environment
Ability to analyze customer needs and recommend tailored technical solutions
Skilled in market research and competitive intelligence gathering
Experienced in delivering product training and technical presentations
Willingness and ability to travel extensively to client sites and industry events
Customer liaison and service – grow the client base
Ensuring CRM is always updated on all aspects
Assisting with quotations and tenders (clean quotations)
Following up on outstanding quotations and tenders
Liaising with QC / QA department on special requests and specifications
Following up on back orders and deliveries
Meeting monthly sales / GP targets
Technical product promotion to end users
Negotiating on sales and orders – achieve monthly sales and GP targets
Gathering and analyzing market intelligence
Grow and ensure up-to-date technical product & application knowledge
Constantly implementing various tasks to increase quotation / order conversion rate
Know and understand specifications indicated on RFQ's applicable to the products offered
Awareness of specification changes and / or updates at end users
Assess and advise on the impact and implications of the various specifications
Training on specifications to relay information and impact of non-compliance
Constantly do self-training on own and competitor products to know and understand the differences
Specifying the full product basket of company at all clients
