We are seeking a technically strong, agriculture-focused Sales Representative to drive sales, support clients, and grow market share within the Mpumalanga region. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in agricultural products—specifically fertilizers, plant health products, and crop chemicals—with the ability to provide hands‑on technical solutions to clients.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the agricultural sector.
- Manage and grow an assigned customer base across the Mpumalanga region.
- Conduct regular client visits, field demonstrations, and product evaluations.
- Provide technical recommendations to farmers and distributors based on crop needs, soil health, and product suitability.
- Stay informed on competitor activity, market trends, and regional developments.
Technical Support
- Deliver technical product training and support to customers and internal teams.
- Advise farmers on fertilizers, plant nutrition, plant health, and crop protection solutions.
- Assist with troubleshooting field issues and ensuring product efficacy.
- Collaborate with the technical manager where needed.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain detailed visit logs, sales call reports, and customer interactions.
- Prepare forecasts, territory plans, and call cycles.
- Ensure accurate record‑keeping and follow‑up on all customer queries.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- BSc Agriculture (or similar agricultural qualification).
- Additional short courses in agronomy, plant health, or chemical products advantageous.
- Knowledge of Arfosa, Bathos, or similar agricultural product systems beneficial.
Experience
- 3–5 years proven experience in technical agricultural sales.
- Strong experience working with fertilizers, plant health products, and agricultural chemicals.
- Practical exposure to fieldwork, crop care, and farmer engagement.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical agricultural knowledge.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel frequently within the province.
- High level of reliability, professionalism, and punctuality.
- Strong problem‑solving and customer‑service orientation.
Additional Notes
- Role involves significant travel within Mpumalanga.
- Remote work structure, but field‑based.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, urgent‑response environment.
