The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales growth, managing customer relationships, and supporting the end-to-end sales process for
MPT
products and solutions. This includes managing leads, preparing quotations and tenders, maintaining accurate pipeline and forecast reports, and supporting marketing initiatives. This role requires a highly proactive and organised individual who can identify new opportunities, provide exceptional customer service, and collaborate effectively with internal engineering and operational teams, as well as with external suppliers. The role is office-based with regular travel for client visits, sales activities & marketing events.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Management

Manage and respond to sales leads via email, calls, and CRM tools. Secure new business by actively targeting and developing opportunities for MPT products. Engage with customers to understand their needs, present product solutions, and close deals. Follow up with leads through outbound calls, emails, and other outreach methods. Provide support to walk-in or call-in customers by preparing and sending quotes. Answer customer queries, resolve concerns, and provide accurate product information. Upsell additional products and services where appropriate.

Quotations, Tenders & Pricing

Develop and maintain sales quotations, tender documents, and pricing templates. Ensure all costing sheets are accurate and updated regularly to support precise quotes. Assist with the collection of special pricing or discounts from suppliers for tender submissions. Keep all tender support documentation up to date and audit-ready.

Sales Pipeline & Reporting

Track and report on sales pipeline, performance metrics, and forecasts. Update opportunities and activities on CRM and supplier portals regularly. Collaborate with management on sales strategy, run rate business development, and opportunity prioritisation.

Collaboration & Marketing Support

Work closely with the marketing department to ensure promotional materials and technical spec sheets are current and accurate. Support the planning and execution of sales and marketing events.

General & Administrative

Maintain product knowledge and stay informed of industry trends and technological updates. Conduct lead research to identify new markets or customer segments. Perform any other reasonable duties required by the company to support sales and business growth.

Qualifications, Experience & Minimum Requirements

Matric (Grade 12) with additional qualifications in Sales, Marketing or Engineering. 5 - 10 years of experience in a sales role, ideally within the Electrical or Engineering industry. Proven experience in preparing sales quotes, tenders, and maintaining pipeline reports. Proficiency in MS Office and CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho or similar). Understanding of UPS systems, battery technologies, back‑up systems or electrical solutions preferred. Driver's License with a reliable vehicle.
