Our client, a well-established manufacturer and leading supplier to the mining industry, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Sales Administrator to join their team.
This pivotal role involves managing the complete internal sales cycle — from reviewing customer enquiries and preparing accurate quotations to processing sales orders and coordinating with production and logistics to ensure timely delivery.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical acumen, including the ability to interpret drawings and work confidently with complex part numbers, along with excellent administrative and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Receive and review customer enquiry documents
- Generate quotation – ensuring part number corresponds with technical drawing
- Liaise with drawing department on technical changes if or when required
- Ensure pricing corresponds with customer requirements / order
- Submit quotation to customer
- Communicate with customers on order status as and when required to ensure customer satisfaction
- Receive and process sales orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all required information is complete – submit to Finance department
- Coordinate with various departments, such as production and logistics, to ensure timely order fulfillment
- Record and report customer complaints to ensure timely resolution
- Re-schedule incomplete jobs
- Ensure information flow to sales and production on all unfinished / late jobs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing exceptional customer service
- Sales office administration
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings (essential)
- Understanding of part costing, mark-ups, and quotation preparation
- Strong ability to apply, manage, and accurately work with complex part numbers
- Familiar with mechanical components (bearings, gearboxes, shafts, couplings, conveyor parts, pumps, valves, fasteners, and structural components)
- Excellent administration and coordination skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Customer-focused with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
- Resourceful, efficient, and able to perform under pressure
- Strong problem-solving ability
