The Focus Group in South Africa seeks an experienced Technical Product Owner for Temenos Core Banking platforms across Africa. You will drive platform configuration, upgrades, and multi-country deployments while ensuring operational stability and alignment with strategic goals.
Lead a technical product team, manage backlogs, and collaborate with vendors and engineering to deliver secure, scalable solutions across subsidiaries.
The role owns end-to-end technical product ownership for Temenos Core Banking, Credit, Card & Payments, ATM & POS, reporting to the Africa Regions CIO. The role spans platform configuration and integration through to release management and operational stability, ensuring these systems support the bank’s transformation, growth, and straight-through processing ambitions across multiple markets. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team and partners to deploy Africa Regions new core technology platform.
Accountable for delivery of the first platform deployment, setting the standard and playbook for future country rollouts
Technical ownership of the T24 core banking platform, including configuration, upgrades, and multi-country deployment
Product ownership across credit, card & payments, and ATM/POS technology stacks inherent on Temenos. Strong collaboration required when leveraging enterprise assets and platforms.
Driving platform integration and straight-through processing between core banking and surrounding systems
Managing the technical backlog, release planning, and delivery in partnership with vendors and internal engineering teams
Building and leading a technical product team, providing direction, coaching, and capability development
Ensuring platform stability, performance, and compliance across all subsidiaries
Partnering with business and channel teams to translate commercial requirements into technical delivery
Lead the portfolio of assets, leading the POCLAC - accountable for the final decision making on all assetcrelated matters, including, agreeing to target state versus transition state (technical debt) decisioncsaligned to enterprise aspirations (including pan-African, Africa Representation Offices and Offshore entities)
Ensure alignment and achievement of strategy and create a competitive advantage by translating the company and business strategy into an asset strategy.
Define, maintain, and communicate the asset maturation strategy and roadmap in response to journey, asset and business needs.
Assist in realising the commercial goals of the organisation.

Accountable for the maintenance and prioritisation of the consolidated portfolio backlogs with input fromCRM's/BITES, Product Owners and Journey POCLACS.
Ensure a stable, resilient and reliable environment to the business; place appropriate emphasis on allmatters relating to IT Risk, specifically with respect to the centralisation of IT systems
Plan, execute, monitor and control activities over an Enterprise Disaster Recovery environment for thespecific assets assigned to the POCLAC.
Accountable for the compliance and data integrity and lineage of the applicable assets.
Develop and implement a strategy to build a differentiated culture by analysing relevant surveys andinformation.
Measure the effectiveness of differentiated culture plan through staff and client feedback and ensurecorrective action plans are developed and implemented.
Facilitate the adoption of suitable chapter frameworks and drive the adoption of the skill transformation incollaboration with the relevant chapters.
Ensure economic value is derived from all activities, meeting all jointly agreed POCLAC budgetcommitments.
Leverage opportunities to create a competitive and commercially successful function.
Accountable for the optimising the TCO of the assets.
Accountable for an enterprise asset strategy and roadmap, balancing creating technical capabilities thatmatch Journey business capability demand, SME/FCI demand, and keeping the assets healthy andcompetitive.
Ensure commercial soundness and relevance through end-to-end Financial Management of the assetvalue chain.
Accountable for the overall health of the asset, which includes Upgrades, Technical Debt monitoring, andplanned removal, ITSM practices, Automated pipeline; RSS of application landscape; Monitoring; HighAvailability & DR; Data enabled; Componentised; Cloud enabled (where fit); & equipped for all multi-scenario usage.
Ensure asset innovation execution of the end-to-end life cycle of all portfolio innovation relating to theimplementation of innovation efforts according to the agreed organisational methodology and strategy
Ensure successful innovation and operations delivery.
Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
B.Sc Computer Science, B.Com Informatics, Engineering Degrees
Preferred - TOGAF, Leading SAFe, Project Management (PMBok/PMI, Prince II etc)
