Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive person to join our team in Technical Operations. This role supports both maintenance operations and project execution across fuel sites and energy installations. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience in team coordination, technical estimation, and electrical inspection, clients' permitting requirements, with a strong grasp of planning discipline and off‑site technical support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage permitting requirements for our fuel industry clients.
  • Ensure documentation and site activities to meet client and regulatory standards.
  • A Permit Issuer qualification will be highly beneficial.
Maintenance & Technical Scope
  • Electrical systems.
  • Generator installations and maintenance.
  • UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems.
  • Conduct fault finding, inspections, and ensure safe operational continuity.
Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead and contribute to extensive project planning for new installations and upgrades.
  • Attend site meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to define scope and timelines.
Provide expert technical support to teams working on‑site
  • Estimate quantities for Bills of Quantities (BOQ) across electrical and mechanical scopes.
  • Scope and specify material requirements based on project and maintenance needs.
  • Accurately size cable requirements, breaker ratings, and other critical components.
  • Perform and document critical inspections for COC compliance.
  • Knowledge of electrical standards are therefore critical.
Operational Oversight
  • Allocate work to teams based on scope of works and team strengths.
  • Ensure correct personnel are assigned and monitor progress across sites.
  • Uphold safety discipline and reporting accountability.
Licensing & Safety
  • Hold a valid Electrician or Wireman's License.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of HSSE requirements within the oil & gas industry.
  • Promote safety culture and compliance in all technical operations.
  • Hold a valid drivers license.
Digital Competency
  • Knowledge of applications like Field Engineer App (FEA) and online works portal functionality will be highly beneficial.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially :
    • Excel (formulas for costing purposes) Non‑negotiable.
    • Word (document formatting, compliance templates, completion reports).
    • Outlook (task coordination, communication).
    • Teams or SharePoint (collaboration and file management).
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in energy, fuel, or industrial technical operations.
  • Able to work in a high‑pressure environment with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of South African electrical, permitting and safety regulations.
  • Have a strong understanding of the OSH Act and all regulations especially those associated with electrical works in hazardous areas.
  • Have operational experience in the mining sector and the Mining Safety Act.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Methodical, systems‑driven, and solutions‑focused.
