Job summary

A leading animal health company is seeking a Technical Manager (Companion Animals) to lead technical functions across Africa. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and 3–5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include providing veterinary expertise, managing relationships, and supporting marketing initiatives. Extensive travel in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within African markets, preferably across multiple countries.

Job Purpose

The Technical Manager (Companion Animals) is responsible for leading veterinary technical functions across Africa. This role ensures technical excellence through collaboration with internal teams, customers, and marketers, supporting the development of technical content for marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide veterinary technical expertise and clinical support to internal teams, customers, and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the technical lead for product launches, training initiatives, and post‑market support.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with veterinarians, distributors, key opinion leaders, and academic institutions.
  • Ensure all technical communications comply with Zoetis' global standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and Commercial Operations to achieve business goals.
  • Collaborate with other Technical Managers globally and regionally to share best practices, align on technical strategies, and contribute to cross‑regional initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations and training modules for diverse audiences, including internal teams, KOLs, customers, and academic institutions.
  • Support marketers by contributing technical input and creating content for marketing materials, campaigns, product positioning, and digital platforms.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) is required. 3–5 years of technical experience within the animal health or pharmaceutical industry is preferred. Strong technical understanding of Companion Animal health products. Experience supporting the development of technical marketing materials is advantageous. Experience working within African markets, preferably across multiple countries in Sub‑Saharan Africa is an advantage.

Travel Requirement

Extensive travel within South Africa and Sub‑Saharan Africa and occasional international travel will be required.

A valid passport and driver's license are essential.
