A well-established employer in the passenger transport environment is seeking a technically skilled Admin Officer to manage, investigate, and administer vehicle-related penalties within a regulated contract framework. This role is ideal for a qualified diesel mechanic or technically experienced professional who enjoys combining hands-on inspections, technical analysis, and structured administrative work.
Accompany officials during technical inspections and formally sign off inspection outcomes
Conduct physical vehicle inspections to verify reported defects
Investigate and validate technical penalties in line with contract specifications
Maintain accurate and detailed penalty registers and fleet compliance records
Scrutinise vehicle history files, including safety checks, services, breakdowns, and roadworthiness documentation
Compile technical reports and present findings to a Penalty Committee on a weekly basis
Prepare and submit appeals against disputed technical penalties
Liaise closely with workshop teams, internal departments, and external stakeholders
Monitor daily vehicle availability and fleet compliance against contractual requirements
Conduct random technical audits and report defects to the workshop
Supervise and manage assigned staff members
Perform additional contract-related duties as required
Qualified Diesel Mechanic with a recognised Trade Test
Grade 12
Computer literacy (MS Office)
Proven technical administrative experience
Practical workshop experience
Diploma in Transport Management, Fleet Maintenance, or similar
Knowledge of negotiated contracts, technical vehicle specifications, and penalty clauses
Experience within the bus or passenger transport industry
Knowledge of bus body structures
Strong administrative, organisational, and reporting skills
Excellent attention to detail and quality focus
Sound technical judgement and problem-solving ability
Good communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High level of integrity, reliability, and work ethic
Willingness to work after hours when operationally required
Workshop-based with regular fleet and inspection exposure
