Job summary

Absa Bank Limited is seeking a Technical Advisory Group professional to provide technical accounting and regulatory support on complex transactions for Absa businesses in SA and rest of Africa. You will stay up to date with IASB/ SAICA guidelines and contribute to policy development.

The role requires BCom Accounting Science or Financial Sciences, CA (SA), and 3-5 years in technical accounting or regulatory policy, preferably in banking.

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting Science or BCom Financial Sciences is required.
• CA (SA) designation is required.
• 3-5 years’ experience in technical accounting or regulatory policy, preferably in a Banking environment.

Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with IASB/SAICA and other regulatory guidance and communicate to affected areas.
• Inform Group Financial Reporting and Group Regulatory Reporting owners of policy changes or issues affecting financial statements or regulatory returns.
• Identify policy issues within business units and drive resolution through effective communication and problem solving.
• Perform thorough assessments of technical policy matters to address finance and compliance risk.
• Communicate with Regulatory bodies on industry-wide matters to ensure Absa’s policy positions are considered.
• Provide technical policy support for new products and transactions from an IFRS/regulatory perspective.
