A leading sustainability consultancy in Pretoria seeks a passionate Technical Account Manager to strengthen client relationships and support sustainability initiatives. Our expertise lies in optimizing energy, water, and waste utilities through our innovative Sustainable Environmental Management Programs (SEMP).
This program involves monthly reporting on utility use, identification of anomalies, advice on best practices and technologies.
Furthermore, education and awareness sessions with management and staff ensures that SEMP becomes a way of work. As a Technical Account Manager at ERO, you will serve as the primary liaison between our clients and internal teams, ensuring exceptional service delivery and strategic sustainability support.
This role demands a technically inclined professional with strong data analytics capabilities and a passion for environmental innovation.
Build and maintain long‑term, trust‑based relationships with clients.
Onboard new clients and coordinate initial site visits to establish baseline energy and water use.
Visit each client site annually for bespoke education and training interventions in support of the SEMP.
(Note this is across South Africa and Africa depending on your customer group)
Travel approximately 5‑10 days per month.
Monitor client satisfaction and implement retention strategies to ensure long‑term value.
Assist annually with the update / development of the site's environmental management plan.
High level energy, water and waste audits, feasibility studies across multiple sites and clients.
Assist with resolving utility supplier service issues professionally and efficiently, leveraging technical insight to drive solutions.
Keep abreast of relevant emerging technologies, government incentives, and sustainability best practices.
Develop a thorough understanding of the key technologies and processes of the specific client.
Compile, analyse, and present monthly reports on energy, water, waste, and carbon performance.
Conduct SEMP assessments to determine ECO Grading and identify opportunities for improvement.
Benchmark client performance and identify risks using data‑driven insights.
Develop and update technical reports with actionable recommendations.
Prepare presentations and case studies to communicate findings and strategic direction.
Assist clients with sustainability budgeting, performance tracking, and long‑term planning.
Keep abreast of sustainability trends, technologies, and regulatory developments.
Support the development and implementation of customized sustainability initiatives.
Support other account managers in client meetings and project management tasks when required.
Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual review meetings with client stakeholders.
Maintain accurate documentation on platforms and ensure data integrity.
Maintain consistent virtual communication with clients and internal teams via email, video conferencing, and collaboration platforms.
Schedule and facilitate remote meetings, training sessions, and presentations with professionalism and clarity.
Ensure timely submission of reports, updates, and documentation through cloud‑based systems.
Manage tasks and deadlines autonomously while maintaining alignment with team objectives and client expectations.
Uphold data security and confidentiality protocols while working across digital platforms.
Stay organized and responsive in a fast‑paced, multi‑client environment using remote project management tools.
Participate actively in virtual team check‑ins, strategy sessions, and performance reviews.
To thrive in this role, candidates should demonstrate a strong technical foundation, analytical mindset, and a passion for sustainability.
A degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, BCom Environmental Management, or BEng Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (highly advantageous).
A technically inclined background with the ability to understand and interpret complex systems and data.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint (skills will be tested).
Previous experience in account management within sustainability, energy, or environmental services. (Advantageous).
Familiarity with sustainability regulations, technologies, and industry trends. (Advantageous).
Previous remote work experience (Advantageous).
Excellent research, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
Communication & Client Engagement: Confidence in delivering presentations both online and in person, including training and educational sessions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive, client‑focused approach.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams and regions.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
A valid passport (advantageous).
South African citizenship.
No criminal record (background checks will be conducted).
Strong, uncapped Wi‑Fi connection for remote work.
