Job summary

A furniture manufacturing company in South Africa is seeking a Machine Shop Team Leader to oversee operations and ensure quality workmanship. Job description

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Machine Shop Team Leader. Someone who takes pride in high standards, leads with confidence and clarity, and ensures that every process, machine, and team member operates with precision and purpose.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and support the Machine Shop team to consistently deliver quality workmanship.
  • Oversee daily machine operations and maintain a well‑organised, efficient, and safe workspace.
  • Ensure machines are operated according to standard procedures, with care and respect for equipment.
  • Troubleshoot machine or process issues calmly and effectively, escalating where necessary.
  • Maintain accuracy and adherence to technical drawings and production specifications.
  • Uphold a culture of excellence through coaching, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor output, optimise workflow, and report on production performance.
  • Champion good housekeeping and equipment maintenance to reflect the Weylandts standard.

Skills Required:

  • Grade 12 (Matric); additional technical training or trade certification advantageous.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a machine shop or furniture manufacturing environment.
