Job description

Job Title: Warehouse Teamleader

Location: Midrand, South Africa

Job Purpose: Coordinate activities of the Internal logistics team to ensure safe and efficient execution of the daily logistics working plan. They guarantee that internal logistics remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring employees and organizing workflows. They optimize day‑to‑day activities while minimizing the costs. Their goal is to ensure that internal logistics processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice transport & logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Identify and drive the fundamental changes necessary to orient the behaviour of teams towards customer needs.
  • Implement a performance‑driven culture through Continuous Improvement / Lean / Kaizen principles and concepts.
  • Provide overall direction to the Internal Logistics teams including Goods Inbound, Goods Outbound / Outbound Deliveries.
  • Ensure a high level of focus on health & safety, housekeeping stock management / stock accuracy, allergen control, and labelling.
  • Collaborate with the External Logistics team to ensure all T&D operations run smoothly.
  • Lead people with the accountability of results through empowerment and operational measurements / metrics.
  • Ensure all SAP data entry, spreadsheets, etc. are promptly and accurately maintained.
  • Coordinate coverage issues and overtime when required.
  • Utilize leadership to promote safety and quality awareness, besides customer orientation.
  • Assist and train team members in the procedures required to perform their jobs.
  • Coordinate cross training activities when possible.
  • Coordinate activities with the Maintenance team, including repairs scheduling, work order requests and equipment releases.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to the working area.
  • Improve on stock accuracy and maintain 98 % accuracy.
  • Root cause analysis on discrepancies found and corrective actions taken.
  • Support the Project Engineer in specific tasks resulting from new projects.
  • Take operational decisions as appropriate.
  • Record deviations to operational issues.
Qualifications & Experience
  • B​ Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of prior Warehouse / Operations experience.
  • Warehousing / Transport & Distribution leadership experience.
  • SAP knowledge.
  • External warehouse management experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety topics: GMP, FSSC, Food Defense, Food Safety, ISO, OHSAS.

In the absence of relevant qualifications, experience in the relevant field and at the relevant level will be considered.
