Responsibilities
- Supervising the production team: The Team Leader is responsible for managing a team of production operators, assigning tasks, and providing direction and guidance throughout the production process. They ensure that team members are properly trained and that they follow all safety protocols.
- Ensuring production schedules are met: The Team Leader works closely with planning and scheduling teams to ensure that production targets and deadlines are met. They monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and take necessary actions to keep production running on schedule.
- Quality control: The Team Leader ensures that all products adhere to quality standards and specifications. They implement quality control measures, perform regular product checks, and address any quality issues promptly. They work closely with the quality assurance team to continuously improve production processes and maintain high-quality output.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: When technical issues or production problems arise, the Team Leader takes charge in identifying the root cause and implementing solutions. They work with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, improve process efficiency, and minimise downtime.
- Continuous improvement: The Team Leader actively participates in process improvement initiatives. They gather feedback from team members, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimise resource utilisation.
- Training and development: The Team Leader plays a vital role in training new team members, ensuring that they are familiar with production processes, safety procedures, and quality requirements. They also provide ongoing coaching and support to help team members develop their skills and improve performance.
- They play a key role in maintaining a positive and productive working environment, fostering teamwork, and driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain or production (4 years' experience and manufacturing environment and leading teams)
- Leadership experience in the food manufacturing industry
- Excellent communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills
- Good people management skills and management of staff
- Identifying problems and implementing preventative strategies to minimise risk
- Supervision, coaching, managing processes, process improvement, tracking budget expenses, production planning, controls and instrumentation, strategic agility
- Collaborative team worker, passionate, results driven, well organised and analytical, creative, able to function independently when required
