About the School

The School of Science and Technology Maidstone (SST) is an outstanding school, with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, that opened in 2020. We are extremely popular within the local community and are heavily oversubscribed. SST is at an exciting point in its growth and development as September 2026 will be the year the school has a full complement of students and staff as our very first 2020 cohort become Year 13.

In January 2023 SST was inspected by Ofsted and was graded OUTSTANDING in all categories and in our first set of public examinations in 2025 our outcomes for students were amongst the very best non‑selective schools in Kent. About the Role

We are looking to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Social Sciences to join our existing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to teach a range of subjects, including Health and Social Care, Psychology, Sociology, and/or Citizenship, to students who are eager to learn and succeed. You will join a collaborative and forward‑thinking department where you can contribute to shaping an innovative curriculum that prepares students for higher education and future careers in social sciences and related fields.

Responsibilities

As a Teacher of Social Sciences, you will inspire critical thinking, encourage debate, and promote an understanding of the social, cultural, and ethical issues that shape our world.

You will also have the opportunity to develop enrichment activities and work closely with colleagues to raise the profile of these subjects across the school.

In addition, you will support students in accessing the secondary school curriculum inclusively and provide professional development where required.
