Job description

Type of Position:Teacher

Subject:Science

Salary:MPS/UPS

Start Date:January/Easter 2027

Closing Date: Friday, 13 November 2027

The School of Science and Technology Maidstone (SST) is an outstanding school, with state-of-the-art facilities, that opened in 2020. We are extremely popular within the local community and are heavily oversubscribed. SST is at an exciting point in its growth and development as September 2026 was the first year our school has a full complement of students and staff as our very first 2020 cohort became Year 13.

In January 2023 SST was inspected by Ofsted and was graded OUTSTANDING in all categories and in our first set of public examinations in 2025 our outcomes for students were amongst the very best non-selective schools in Kent. This is a testament to the fantastic work that has gone into making this school a brilliant place to learn and work.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Science to join our existing team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of students who are eager to learn and succeed. As a Teacher of Science, you will become part of a growing department where you can help shape and develop an exciting new curriculum and contribute to building a strong identity for the subject within the school.

You will inspire curiosity and a love of learning, delivering high-quality lessons across the science curriculum. In addition, you will have the chance to collaborate with colleagues, share best practice, and play a key role in promoting STEM opportunities both in and beyond the classroom.

If you are passionate about working in a dynamic team to provide inclusive support to enable students to have full and effective access to the secondary school curriculum, we would love to hear from you.

Come and join our dedicated team of professionals who are always willing to support new staff in the best interests of our students. Our school continually evolves in our drive for excellence; we aspire to provide Exceptional Care, Exceptional Education and Exceptional Opportunities. New opportunities, including career progression, are actively sought for all staff across the school. Collaboration with like-minded colleagues across the Multi-Academy Trust (VIAT) is set up to provide: networking, support, quality assurance and friendship. If you think you would thrive in this environment we want to meet you.
