Job summary

Teacher of Biology (full-time, permanent) – September ****. This is an exceptional opportunity for a new Teacher of Biology to join a flourishing boarding and day school, set on an attractive acre campus in rural Surrey. The School’s strapline "United by Diversity" provides the backdrop to a department that nurtures scientific insight, objectivity, and sensitivity in discussion and intellectual enquiry; we aim to teach how to think, not what to think.

The School is a co‑educational boarding and day school for about pupils, around 25% of whom are full boarders, and is an HMC school with a proud heritage. Following significant investment into new buildings, refurbished science labs and growing pupil numbers, this appointment is important for the continuing academic growth of the School.

Responsibilities
  • Inspire and motivate pupils to achieve and develop their full potential
  • Work with the Head of Department to deliver effective, engaging and interesting subject teaching
  • Support the School’s expectation of excellent educational provision, safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children
  • Academic tutoring of around 16 pupils, including a duty evening in one of the Houses
  • Participate in co‑cultural and pastoral life, including sports, arts, community and other activities

All full‑time teachers have responsibility for academic tutoring of around 16 pupils, which includes a duty evening in one of the Houses. Full‑time staff also play a part in the co‑cultural and pastoral life of the School, participating in sports, arts, community and other activities.
