Job summary

Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited is seeking staff to support TB sample processing and storage at NICD, Sandringham. The role involves handling samples, entering data, and maintaining equipment under supervision to ensure laboratory integrity and safety.

The position requires a National Diploma or BSc in a science field, GCLP adherence, and HPCSA registration as Medical Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist. Preference given to candidates with lab experience and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or BSC in Science related field required.
• GCLP knowledge and adherence required.
• Good understanding of laboratory safety and compliance essential.
• Registration with HPCSA as Medical Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to laboratory processing and storage of samples for TB and related tasks under supervision.
• Receive, process and prepare samples according to SOPs and trial protocols.
• Enter sample information into information systems accurately.
• Daily equipment maintenance and verification (temperature monitoring and fault handling).
• Process samples according to SOP and maintain quality using GCLP.
• Prepare media and reagents to SOP specifications.
• Stocktaking of consumables/reagents and timely reordering.
• Ensure lab cleanliness and proper waste disposal.
• Enter results in laboratory information system.
