About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and seasoned Tax Manager to oversee the tax function and work collaboratively with the Accounts/Operations Manager, with a particular focus on international clients operating in South Africa.

This role involves managing deliverables, improving internal processes, and developing team capability—ensuring the effective delivery of all tax-related services across compliance, advisory, and reporting. You will report directly to the Executive Team, ensuring that tax operations align with Wiltons’ broader client service and operational strategy.

An entrepreneurial mindset is a bonus. We welcome candidates with the vision and drive to grow the tax function into a strategic pillar of the business. A future tax partner profile would be particularly valued—someone who combines technical expertise with commercial acumen, leadership, and the ability to help shape the firm’s next phase of growth.

A core responsibility will be to strengthen and support the existing team, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and client satisfaction, while contributing strategically to innovation and long-term business development.

Mandarin speaking would be advantageous.

Client Tax Management

  • Oversee the full tax compliance function across corporate, individual, and trust clients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tax returns (Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, Provisional Tax).
  • Manage SARS correspondence, queries, and deadlines with precision.
  • Review and approve tax computations and reconciliations for quality and compliance.
  • Prepare annual tax summaries and management reports for client review.
  • Draft and manage engagement letters and fee proposals for tax services.
  • Maintain professional, proactive communication with clients on all tax matters.

Tax Advisory and Planning

  • Provide strategic tax planning and advisory support to both local and international clients.
  • Advise on structuring, cross-border transactions, and double taxation agreements.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings with tax-efficient guidance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage SARS reviews or audits.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for tax optimisation and efficiency.

Internal Operations

  • Manage internal tax compliance calendars and submission workflows.
  • Maintain oversight of filing accuracy, process efficiency, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with leadership to enhance systems, automation, and reporting.
  • Support internal tax training and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Lead, train, and mentor the tax team to ensure excellence in delivery.
  • Promote accountability, precision, and professional development.
  • Review team outputs for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
