The successful candidate will play a key role in thedesign, management, and optimization of tailings storage facilities (TSFs)while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, upholding safety standards, and driving operational efficiency.
This role requires strong technical expertise, project management capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.Duties & ResponsibilitiesTailings Facility Design & ManagementDesign and engineer tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and supporting infrastructureDevelop deposition strategies to optimize tailings storage capacityPrepare technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentationOversee TSF construction, commissioning, and operational performanceMonitor and assess facility stability, integrity, and long-term performanceEnvironmental Compliance & StewardshipEnsure adherence to environmental legislation, permits, and standardsDevelop and implement water management systems for tailings facilitiesConduct environmental impact assessments and ongoing monitoring programsDraft closure and rehabilitation strategies for TSFsPrepare and submit regulatory documentation and compliance reportsGeotechnical Analysis & SafetyConduct geotechnical investigations and stability analysesDesign embankments, dams, and containment structuresPerform slope stability and foundation assessmentsImplement risk management strategies and safety proceduresDevelop and maintain emergency response plansProject Management & CollaborationLead tailings-related projects from feasibility through executionCollaborate with mining, environmental, and safety professionalsManage contractors, consultants, and external stakeholdersPrepare technical reports, cost estimates, and presentationsSupport regulatory inspections and engage in stakeholder consultationsDesired Experience & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related disciplineProfessional Engineer (PE) registration preferred5–8 years' experience in tailings engineering or a related fieldProven expertise in TSF design, operation, and managementStrong background in geotechnical analysis and slope stability assessmentExperience with environmental compliance and regulatory submissionsSolid project management experience in mining or heavy industryProficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent)Knowledge of modern tailings deposition methods and technologies
