Switchboard Operator

Location: Cape Town – On‑site. Salary: Monthly.

You are an inspiring, empowering, and results‑oriented Switchboard Operator with a passion for service excellence while maintaining standards and meeting or exceeding goals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the smooth running of the shift and that all tasks are completed by the agreed deadline.
• Direct all incoming calls to the correct extensions or departments and assist guests with outgoing calls.
• Adhere to emergency procedures and follow instructions from the Evacuation Wardens.
• Handle guests’ parcels and couriers, ensuring accurate charges and prompt dispatch.
• Assist with booking restaurants and day tours.
• Work shifts, public holidays, and weekends as required.

Qualifications

• Hospitality qualification.
• Experience in a 4‑ or 5‑star establishment and with a busy switchboard.
• Proficiency with Front Office systems, Opera and Fidelio.
• Strong administration and numeracy skills.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
• Team‑player, works well under pressure, with a can‑do attitude.
• Adaptable, ready to embrace change and learn, and able to maintain a courteous, efficient, and helpful demeanour.
