PURPOSE :
As part of the supply chain team, the main responsibility of the Supply Chain Specialist is to support the supply chain process and secure product availability.
The main responsibilities of the Supply Chain Specialist include:
- Inventory optimization in accordance with business strategy
- Ensure appropriate supplies and stock levels are maintained to meet customer service levels within cost constraints and consistent with the distribution centre and suppliers' lead times.
- Build relationships with the Standard Operating Procedure team, Sales, Marketing, 3PL, and warehouse to ensure the availability of finished products for distribution to customers.
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales departments regarding customer needs and supply availability.
- Work with demand planners and the commercial team to identify, analyze, and report potential supply and inventory issues and proactively address them.
- Optimize inventory levels based on market needs, analyze stock replenishment signals, and coordinate stock transfers across warehouses and locations within South Africa, meeting KPIs and minimizing write-offs.
- Liaise with 3PL to ensure transactions are fulfilled within agreed SLAs, identify gaps, perform RCA, and implement corrective actions.
- Share analytical reports with 3PL as per business needs.
Supply optimization- Collaborate with demand planners to optimize supply.
- Prepare and facilitate supply review meetings with demand planners.
- Monitor and report KPIs, analyze root causes, and propose countermeasures.
- Display ownership and accountability.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvements- Contribute to the preparation and testing of projects related to continuous improvement.
- Identify areas for process improvement and design new methods to enhance departmental performance.
- Perform all tasks following instructions, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Follow all reasonable instructions given by superiors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Logistics, Warehousing, or Inventory Management.
- Minimum of 5 years' working experience.
- Previous experience in supply chain management, planning systems, and logistics activities is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP; willingness to work with various software packages.
- Ownership, action-oriented mindset, and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Decision-making capabilities, flexibility, and stress tolerance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to persuade stakeholders.
- Ability to transfer knowledge and be a role model for team members.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Additional Information
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in supply chain, planning systems, or logistics.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant fields.
