As a leading scientific brand in Africa, Lasec is renowned for importing and supporting a wide range of fast-moving scientific products from trusted suppliers and manufacturers across Europe, America, and Asia.

To ensure the continued efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chain operations, Lasec SA is seeking to appoint a dynamic and skilled Supply Chain Specialist to join our team at the Cape Town Head Office. Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role within the Product Department, contributing to the strategic sourcing and procurement of high-quality scientific products that support our clients and drive our business forward.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Commerce / Science or similar business-related qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Buying / Inventory
  • Specialisation in relevant field of study / expertise
  • Commercial affinity for understanding business basics
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team
  • Results-driven ability to multi-task
  • High attention to detail coupled with strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • High level of proficiency operating Microsoft Office specifically Excel
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • A valid driver's license
Responsibilities
  • Demand Planning and Purchasing – Use market knowledge and forecasting to ensure correct stock levels to meet growth targets, create purchase orders on the system and acquire required purchase order approvals.
  • Supplier Relationships – Handle all communications with suppliers regarding orders as well as negotiating price, discount and delivery terms, and coordinate with logistics providers to ensure on-time arrival of product.
  • Product‑Portfolio Management – Rationalise product lines and suppliers based on best price, quality, availability, reliability, certification and technical support.
  • Costings – Adhere to cost allocations, expenditure procedures and supply chain principles.
  • Administration and General Responsibilities – Perform all related administrative tasks and support the procurement function.
