Overview
An established wine and beverage manufacturer based in Stellenbosch is seeking a Supply Chain Quality Controller to support and oversee compliance, quality assurance, and traceability across the supply chain. The role is ideal for someone experienced in regulatory compliance, auditing, and technical documentation within the food, beverage, or wine industry. You will play a key role in ensuring all certifications, declarations, and technical documents are accurate, current, and audit-ready in line with BRCGS, IFS, SAWIS, DAFF, Organic (EU / US / UK), Fairtrade, and IPW standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Portal Management
- Manage and maintain compliance data across client and retailer portals (e.g. IPW, Fairtrade, Organic).
- Ensure timely submissions and renewals with a 98% \"right-first-time\" accuracy rate.
- Keep certification and regulatory documents up to date and ready for audits.
- Quality & Compliance Programs
- Support Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance checks.
- Train and audit suppliers and wine producers against Fairtrade, IPW, and Organic standards.
- Facilitate and close out non-conformances.
- Traceability & Document Control
- Maintain farm-to-bottle traceability documentation in line with certification requirements.
- Administer and control versioned QMS documents.
- Assist in mock recalls and traceability testing to ensure readiness.
- Auditing & Data Integrity
- Schedule, coordinate, and lead supplier, internal, and external audits.
- Ensure timely close-out of findings and maintain accurate audit records.
- Maintain data integrity across ERP (SAGE / SAP), QMS, and compliance portals.
- Continuous Improvement & Communication
- Support cross-functional communication on compliance and quality updates.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline documentation and reporting.
- Participate in digital and process standardisation projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
- Tertiary Qualification: Diploma / Degree in Quality Management, Food Science, Food Technology, or Supply Chain Management.
- Training / Certifications (preferred)
- HACCP (Intro + Practitioner)
- BRCGS Issue 9 & IFS v8 Awareness
- Internal Auditor (ISO / ISO / FSSC)
- Knowledge of Organic, Fairtrade, and IPW standards.
- Experience with mock recalls and traceability testing.
- Experience: 3–5 years in quality, compliance, or supply chain auditing within the food or beverage industry.
