Job summary

DSV – Global transport and logistics in Kempton Park seeks a Supervisor, Inventory to lead inbound, outbound and inventory operations and ensure daily targets are met. You will manage reports, KPI adherence and safety compliance in a busy warehouse environment.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 is required.
  • 3-year logistics/science or relevant qualification with min 2 years’ experience.
  • 3+ years in industry with warehouse-related responsibilities.
  • Intermediate computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience in warehouse management system and data reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day warehousing operations ( inbound, outbound, inventory).
  • Adhere to HSE compliance and responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain reports in line with KPI and contractual obligations.
  • Investigate and address KPI gaps, initiate CAPAs and disciplinary actions if needed.
  • Lead and develop subordinates; drive continuous improvement and 5S compliance.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • 3-year Logistics, SC or relevant Qualification + min 2 years’ experience OR
  • Min 3 years relevant experience in industry with experience in all job-related requirements listed below
  • Intermediate Computer literacy level in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • 3-year experience and at least intermediate skill level working on a warehouse management system
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint for data management, reporting and effective communication with clients and suppliers
Job Related Requirements
  • Min 2 years’ experience in a Supervisory / Team leader role;1 -2 years’ experience in a warehouse environment Experience in Stock control.
  • Knowledge of Inbound, Return processes and workflows.
  • knowledge and experience in investigating and troubleshooting of stock discrepancies; skills in Planning, Organising, Leading, Controlling & Monitoring.
  • Good communication skills and ability – be able to communicate at all levels within the company; Strong attention to detail and high quality of work.
  • Must be able to meet and manage Internal and Personal KPI’s and ensure compliance to Policies, Regulations, Work Instructions and Workloads.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • A good understanding of Inventory management principles.
  • Ability to work extended hours / after hours if and when required by the Operation.
  • Plan, Prep and execute daily Workload to be handed over for distribution to employees.
  • Retrieve and compile data into reports used for performance management, progress tracking and investigations; Initiate disciplinary action. Compliance: Must ensure full site compliance, including the following: DSV Policies, Regulations, Work Instructions, Maintenance and cope with stress and work effectively under constant pressure, SHERQ: Internal measurement and auditing of all site processes to ensure stability and improvement in areas of Health and Safety, environment and facility compliance/risk mitigation.
  • IR: Must be able to effectively lead, train, performance measure and performance manage all subordinates to ensure high morale, productivity and retention. This includes intermediate knowledge of Industrial Relations and Processes.

Main purpose of the role

This role will be responsible for the leading and control of the Inbound, Outbound and inventory operations.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage and Oversee the day to day warehousing operations at the facility.
  • Adherence to HSE compliance and responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain various reports in line with KPI and contractual obligations.
  • Control, action, investigate and complete CAPA document’s if need be, this includes but is not full consignments, error percentages, KPI requirements, etc.
  • Practice and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Daily reporting to Management.
  • Monitor and report on Attendance of staff.
  • Perform duties in other departments as per operational requirements or when required by management.
  • Oversee special projects.
  • Oversee all Inventory related activities.
  • Rewarding good behavior with employee of the month awards, and correcting bad behavior by ensuring the necessary disciplinary action is taken.
  • Ensuring 5S compliance.
  • Ensuring that SPQRCE is adhered too daily.
  • Conflict Management.
  • Hourly floor walks to ensure compliance of health and safety as well as the staff monitor.
  • Drive the team to meet their daily target in line with contractual obligations.
  • Conducts staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
  • Meets all client specified KPI’s and complies with Quality system requirements.
  • Keeps Manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention daily. Holds regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess the group’s overall status. Discusses ideas for improvement.
  • Keeps staff informed of new developments.
  • Assists in the physical operations as needed.
  • Delivers results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
  • Maintains high degree of motivation in team members to retain focus of providing highest levels of customer satisfaction.
