Job summary

Tongaat is seeking a Chemical Engineer to achieve excellence in sugar processing at the raw mills and refinery. You will lead factory performance initiatives, regularly measure unit operations, and provide technical assistance to overcome processing, recovery or quality challenges.

A BSc/BTech in Chemical Engineering with 5+ years in operations and technical support is required. You will contribute to process design, mass and energy balances, and drive energy efficiency and environmental

Qualifications

A BSc / BTech or equivalent qualification in Chemical Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in operations and technical support.
Specialist knowledge in one or more unit operations sets you apart from general operations.
Process design experience: flowsheet development, mass and energy balances, equipment design.
Results focus, courage, drive and strong communication across teams.

Responsibilities

Lead factory performance improvements at the mills and refinery.
Routinely measure unit operation performance and develop optimisation plans.
Provide specialist support in areas such as crystallisation.
Develop and implement energy efficiency initiatives.
Drive environmental plans to reduce liquid effluent and meet air emissions legislation.
