Job description
Introduction

Our client in the private education sector is recruiting a proactive and dynamic Student Advisor to join their student recruitment team.

This role is ideal for someone confident in presenting at schools, driven by performance targets, and passionate about helping students take the next step in their academic journey.

Based in Durban North, KZN. 3 Year Diploma or Degree in PR, Business, Marketing or Communication. Own car and a valid driver's license are essential. 2+ years' sales or student recruitment experience is an advantage. Target‑driven, highly organised and people‑focused.

Duties & Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing. This is not your typical sales role, it's fast‑paced, people‑focused, and purpose‑driven.

As a Senior Student Advisor, your day‑to‑day will centre around connecting with future students, building trust, and helping them take the next big step in their education journey. Here’s how you’ll make an impact.

Inspire Through Presentations. You’ll visit targeted schools, delivering powerful presentations that spark interest and drive action. From high school halls to career expos, you’ll represent the brand and create memorable experiences that showcase what sets the institution apart.

Absolutely, but it’s not just about numbers. It’s about making connections that matter.

Grow the Pipeline. You’ll collect and build school databases as part of your outreach efforts, helping to expand visibility and keep a healthy stream of future leads coming in. Hitting monthly collection goals will be a key part of the strategy.

Turn Interest into Action. Once you’ve got their attention, it’s time to follow up. You’ll reach out to prospective students, book interviews, respond to online queries, and guide them through the application process, all with energy, empathy, and urgency.

Interview Like a Pro. Interviews are your chance to turn curiosity into commitment. You’ll build rapport with students and parents, follow proven interview scripts, and make sure each conversation moves the process forward.

Drive Online Applications. Helping students complete applications (right there in the interview, where possible) is part of the magic. You’ll follow up on unpaid applications, guide applicants through next steps, and work to secure payment and pre‑registration commitments.

Support Conversions & Registrations. You’re not just building interest, you’re helping students enrol. Your work feeds directly into the campus registration targets, and your ability to nurture leads from first contact to final sign‑up is key to success.

Stay Organised and On Track. Behind every great advisor is great admin. You’ll keep detailed records, track activity daily, and make sure all interviews and applications have the correct documentation. Your reports feed into broader recruitment efforts and decision‑making.

Desired Experience & Qualification

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

National Diploma (NQF6) with 3 years sales experience (preferred).

Special Requirement. Driver’s license and own vehicle essential.

Skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents and stakeholders. The ability to deliver a compelling presentation at schools is crucial.
