Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to contribute to significant infrastructure projects in Upington. You will design and analyze structures such as bridges, water retaining structures, and industrial facilities to ensure safety, stability, and longevity.

You will collaborate with a team of engineers and designers to deliver robust structural solutions meeting demanding project requirements, with a strong focus on codes, constructability, and durability.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural design for infrastructure projects.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng).
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, CSiBridge).
• Experience with bridge design, steel structures, and reinforced concrete.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of infrastructure projects, including bridges, culverts, and industrial buildings.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using relevant codes and standards.
• Ensure designs are optimized for constructability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term durability.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and provide technical support.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and contractors to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs from the construction team.

About the Role
