Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer for Durban-based projects, focusing on high-rise design and complex structures.

You will contribute from concept through construction support, collaborating with architects and disciplines to ensure safe, resilient urban developments in the KwaZulu-Natal region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a specialization in structures.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural design, with a significant portfolio of high-rise building projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Etabs, SAP2000, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, and industrial facilities using advanced engineering principles.
• Perform structural calculations for loads including dead loads, live loads, wind, and seismic forces per SANS.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and technical reports using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical/electrical engineers, and construction teams to integrate designs.
• Conduct site inspections during construction to monitor progress and resolve structural issues.
• Stay updated on advancements in materials, technologies, and building codes.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team in Durban , focusing on the design and analysis of high-rise buildings and complex structures. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, integrity, and resilience of urban developments within the KwaZulu-Natal region. You will be involved from conceptual design through to construction support, working on iconic projects that define the city's skyline. The position requires a blend of strong analytical skills, practical design experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a project team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, and industrial facilities using advanced engineering principles.
• Perform structural calculations for various loads, including dead loads, live loads, wind, and seismic forces, ensuring compliance with South African National Standards (SANS).
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and technical reports using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and construction teams to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
• Conduct site inspections during construction to monitor progress, ensure adherence to design specifications, and resolve any structural issues that arise.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering materials, technologies, and building codes to implement innovative solutions.
