A leading analytics firm in Johannesburg is seeking a Strategic Finance Analyst to support financial planning and investment analysis. You will work closely with senior leadership to enhance decision-making processes through quantitative analysis and collaboration. Ideal candidates will have 6+ years of experience in analytical finance with strong project management skills and the ability to communicate effectively across departments.

As a Strategic Finance Analyst, you will work closely with senior leadership to support the development of quarterly and annual operating plans, periodic forecast updates, investment analysis, and the maintenance of company KPIs.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or another quantitative field (required).
Postgraduate degree in a related field (e.g., MBA, Economics, Accounting) is advantageous. 6+ years of work experience, preferably in analytical finance roles such as Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Equity Research, Private Equity, or Venture Capital.
Develop frameworks to analyze business problems using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including financial benchmarking and business modelling, to provide fact-based rationale for Xbl's strategic choices. Conduct due diligence, which may include collecting historical data, developing and executing work plans, reviewing contracts and policies, gathering and analysing data, identifying risks, and conducting competitor, financial, and valuation analyses. Support the analysis of financial and analytical aspects of key business decisions, go-to-market strategies, resource allocation, partnerships, and investment opportunities. Perform valuation analysis on incremental investment opportunities and Tribe / Capability budgets, including pro forma financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
Support the quarterly and annual planning process, working closely with business partners to translate top-down targets into accountable budgets. Build and maintain forecast models, including bottoms-up and data-driven models, to understand segmentation, sensitivity analysis, scenario analysis, and financial impact. Drive portfolio and resource allocation analysis, running scenario models and sensitivity testing that support load management and prioritisation decisions led by the Head of Strategic Finance. Maintain and enhance KPI measurement frameworks, providing reliable data pipelines and real-time reporting that feed directly into executive briefings and board-level updates. Support Executive-level decision making by preparing executive-ready presentations, dashboards, and financial narratives that clearly articulate insights, risks, and trade-offs for senior stakeholders. Act as a communication bridge by simplifying complex analysis into clear stories tailored for both financial and non-financial audiences, reinforcing the Executive's role in influencing stakeholders.
Excellent quantitative and modeling skills, with significant experience using Microsoft Excel. Innovative, highly analytical, with strong business acumen, process orientation, and a track record of synthesising and simplifying complex issues. Advanced financial modeling skills and deep understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), with the ability to build pro forma analyses for new business and service lines. Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build effective relationships across all levels of the company. Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects with autonomy and accountability for a comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment. Highly effective communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal—with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and influence change. Excellent organisational and project management skills, with strong attention to detail and deadlines. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a multicultural environment.
